The Australian people have spoken and have voted in the Labor party in a landslide election.

Mr John Howard has also lost his seat of Bennelong in what will go down as a first for a Prime Minister to loose both leadership.

Labor
The Australian Labor Party is an Australian centre-left social democratic party . Founded in 1891 is Australia's oldest political party.

The last time Labor was in Government was 1983 to 1986.

Australia's new Prime Minister is Kevin Rudd and it's National President for 2007 is Senator John Faulkner.

Coalition
The Coalition, made up of the Liberal Party, the National Party and the Country Liberal party refer to the three centre-right political parties that have existed as a coalition since 1922.

Ex Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Party John Howard has been in government since 1996.
